Instagram Your Garden as RHS Chelsea Goes Virtual

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

There is good news in the air for all garden and gardening lovers. It started this week as our treasured garden centres started opening again. At last it's possible for many of us to visit and gather some of the plants we have been so wanting to lay our hands on. And now, the most famous of all flower shows is going ahead. But not as we know it. Get ready for a virtual RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2020.

Over the coming week from Sunday May 17th, the BBC will be celebrating the show with some of the presenters we know and love, including Sophie Raworth, Joe Swift, Nicki Chapman and Monty Don. We can feast our eyes on some of the highlights of past shows as if we were there.

For those who are RHS members, there's more. The gardening and horticultural industry, garden designers, florists and gardening personalities, will be busy bringing us videos, nursery tours, Q&A sessions and a host of other gardening treats to feast on and inspire us.

Keep your eye on the RHS website for updates on news and information on the weeks events as they unfold. Meantime, here are a few of the highlights to look out for courtesy of the RHS website, as the week progresses.

  • Daily videos from well-known gardening presenters and experts
  • Interactive lunchtime Q&A sessions with RHS Advisors and special guests
  • Behind-the-scenes tours from award-winning nurseries
  • Vote for your favourite plants, products and gardens
  • A daily School Gardening Club with activities for families to grow plants and connect with nature

We can't wait to watch; we hope you do too. One last thing. It's competition time. We are all invited to share images of our green space, from gardens to balconies, house plants and window sills, at home.

To help encourage us, The RHS and BBC1 The One Show are running a competition called My Chelsea Garden. A call for you to enter photos of your garden, and also, to share how your gardens are helping you at this time. The benefits of gardening and nurturing plants for mental wellbeing are, as we know, not to be underestimated, especially now.

Get cracking! Closing date for entries is end of play Monday 18th May. For more information head over to The One Show website. If you don't manage to enter, simply post photos of your garden on Facebook or Instagram using the tag #mychelseagarden and join the celebration.

May we also invite you to head over to our RHS beauty page where you can browse some of the collections we have created with the Royal Horticultural Society.
