Tuesday (22nd) saw the start of the Chelsea Flower Show 2012, where every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital are transformed into the world's most famous flower spectacle. Launching a host of new trends and flowers for the world to see, this year the show included brand new varieties of Heathcote & Ivory favourites, Rose and Sweet Pea.
Each year show gardens large and small are produced by top design teams, and floral exhibits and displays are created to be judged by a panel of experts. Medals are awarded in their respective categories. The show is attended by 157,000 visitors each year, which is known for new plants and trends being introduced into the consumer market. It's become an important venue for emerging gardening fashions, and one of the main events in the gardening and horticultural world.
And believe it or not, it's also been a good year for Heathcote & Ivory at Chelsea Flower show! Well, for our Vintage Rose and Floral Fragrance Collection Sweet Pea & Honeysuckle at least. Among the brand new plants being introduced at this year's show is a new rose entitled Rosa ‘Royal Jubilee’, which heads a host of fragrant new roses shown by David Austin Roses, which has already established itself as one of this year's favourites.
Also on display is a brand new range of Sweet Pea by Eagle Sweet Peas, one of which is entitled: Sweet Pea ‘Diamond Jubilee’ - a pink, picotee sweet pea, introduced to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. A reoccurring theme it seems.
Chelsea Flower Show 2012 runs until 26th May. Tickets are now sold out, but the official RHS website suggests checking at the Ticket Office in person daily for returned tickets. You never know, you might get lucky!
